What does God want? Disciples—that is, followers of Christ! What does a disciple who is pleasing to God look like? Growing! Believe it or not, a new, born-again babe in Christ is no less pleasing to God than the mature Christian of 20 years. In fact, a new babe in Christ who is striving to know God more and serve Him to the best of his infantile abilities is far more pleasing to God than the 20-year vet who “knows it all,” has a mediocre prayer life, and invests little time in the Word.

     God cares more about your rate of growth than your state of growth. No matter where you are, what you’ve done, or how far you think you have to go, God just wants you to take steps of growth. Your destination? Christ-likeness. Since you will never truly “arrive,” you should always just be moving in the right direction. This is a universal truth that applies to ALL Christians; none of us will ever be perfect—but we should be pressing on.
